Lodging

Stowe also has multiple lodging options if you plan to stay the night or take a ski vacation during the winter. It is always the best experience spending the night somewhere you’ve never been. That is why there are so many lodging and housing opportunities in Stowe because the tourism rate is so high. Each lodge or hotel is a little different and many of them are one of the best I’ve ever been to. I have stayed at the Stoweflake Hotel, which is a 10 minute drive from the base of the mountain for all the early riser skiers like me. Stoweflake also has an impressive spa for all of the parents trying to take a relaxing vacation. I have also stayed at the Spruce Peak Lodge which is on the base of the mountain, so you are guaranteed a first chair for the early riser skies like me. There, this also an enormous pool that actually starts inside and you can swim under the wall to the outdoor pool. There are also hot tubs on the deck which is a nice sensation on a cold winter night. Stowe lodging is one of a kind.

Dining

In Stowe there is a huge variety of restaurants and markets to grab a bit to eat. After a long day of skiing or hiking, I always love to stay a bit longer and eat in Stowe. In Stowe the most popular restaurants are McCarthy’s, Sunset Grill and Tap Room, Sushi Yoshi and many more. My favorite place to eat is pizza place called Piecasso. They have the best deals and the best garlic knots I have every tried. They have a variety of different meals and pizzas. It is the perfect apres ski meal. It is especially awesome because it is super cheap which makes this place my go to restaurant because the hot lunch in the mountain lodge is incredibly expensive. One burger, fires and a drink costs 25 dollars. So it makes a lot of sense to either pack a lunch, or push yourself through lunch and hold out to chow down on some delicious pizza after skiing.

The Base of The Mountain

There is still much to do in Stowe if you do not want to ski, bike, or hike. The Stowe Mountain Resort offers a multitude of different activities. You can zip line from peak to base which is a exciting way to satisfy the thrill seeker inside of you. You can mountain gulf with one of the most beautiful views you’ll ever get while golfing. With multiple holes, there are endless possibilities. You can ice skate on a flat, night lit rink with music. A great place to bring your date on a romantic night, or a group of friends for a party. You can shop in the plaza like town at the base of the mountain for new gear and accessories to show off on the slopes. Kids can spend a night at the bowling alley with their friends and unlimited chicken wings and drinks. For the parents, they can relax at the spa and let loose of all their conflicts and worries. Stowe Mountain Resort is a win win for all family members.

Spring and Summer activities

At Stowe Mountain Resort, during the spring and summer, mountain biking and hiking are very popular activities. During the early spring, there may be some snow left if you are lucky. Spring skiing is always the best because you can ski in a T-shirt and not be cold. When the snow does melt and the trails start to dry up, then the bikers and hikers come out. The used to be ski trails now turn into biking and hiking terrain. The woods are cleared and natural features emerge for all the best bikers. Man made bridges, jumps, and ramps are set into the trails for the bikers who like to do tricks. If you do not own a bike there are great rental deals at Ski Rack, which offers the best outdoor equipment for all of your summer needs. Be sure to dress lightly and pack water because it is a long way up!

Skiing

Skiing and snowboarding is the most popular activity to participate in at the Stowe Mountain Resort. There are multiple chairlifts and many different trails. Thousands of tourists visit and ski at Stowe every year. Although this makes it popular, it is not necessarily a good thing if you are a die hard skier. Another con about Stowe is that the tickets and passes are incredibly expensive. This year a pass at Stowe, costed a little over 500 dollars. They do offer discounts to students and employees, regardless, it is a lot of money. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth it to ski there because of their awesome terrain. This mountain has 485 acres of skiable terrain with many natural features such as cliffs, waterfalls, and trees. Stowe is known for their really good woods trails and glades. Stowe also has one of the best parks in the state. This is where I am usually found. Stowe has 3 to 4 different parks each year scaling up from easy to hard. This mountain is great for beginners and experts and is definitely worth the investment.
